The ancient oil-seed Camelina sativa was first grown 3000 years ago by our European ancestors. It has been reintroduced by Jamie & Josie at STIX farm in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The crop is cultivated and harvested by Jamie, then locally cold pressed, helping to conserve the high levels of omega-3 fats and vitamin E.

Creake Abbey Farmers Market, on the first Saturday of the month. Camelina sativa or 'gold of pleasure' as it is otherwise known, is an oil seed plant which is part of the Brassica family. The plant has small pale yellow flowers and produces tiny dark orange seeds. These seeds are then locally cold pressed, and the resulting oil filtered and bottled. Camelina has been grown as food in Europe since the bronze age and is now making a comeback due to its high levels of plant-based Omega-3 fatty acid (usually found in oily fish) and Vitamin E (great for skin).
